A Net Metered Solar System produces solar energy that is converted into electricity that is consumed by the offtaker BEFORE it reaches the grid. By consuming the electricity before it hits the grids, the facility benefits by avoiding both generation costs and transmission & distribution costs. The facility will also reduce its peak demand requirements, and the utility’s related peak demand charges.
Net Metered solar systems are applicable for facilities with available land, rooftop, and/or carport space. The solar system size is based on available area, and to serve a portion of the facility’s electricity needs. Systems include ground mount, rooftop, and carport (in order of lowest to highest cost).
